HISTORIC OLD SALEM-Old Salem Museums & Gardens is one of America’s most comprehensive history attractions. Its museums—the Historic Town of Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA), and the Gardens at Old Salem—engage visitors in an educational and memorable historical experience about those who lived and worked in the early South. Old Salem Museums & Gardens is located at 600 South Main Street in Winston-Salem.
REYNOLDA GARDENS-The 129 acres that comprise Reynolda Gardens of Wake Forest University were once at the center of Reynolda, the early twentieth century estate of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Reynolds and included a lake, a golf course, formal gardens, greenhouses, and woods. Although many changes have occurred to the landscape over the past century, this preserve serves as a learning center for topics related to horticulture, environmental sciences, and landscape history.
DOWNTOWN WINSTON SALEM- Winston-Salem has grown to be an area known for its diversity of business and community. With a strong and unwavering commitment to the arts, excellence in healthcare research and technology, and opportunities for specialized and advanced education. Winston-Salem truly is the City of Arts and Innovation.

Twentieth century businesses, such as R. J. Reynolds Tobacco and the Hanes companies, also shaped Winston-Salem by bringing remarkable wealth to the city and endowing it with an impressive list of institutions and foundations. Their rise to prominence only furthered the spirit of entrepreneurship that has characterized the city since its earliest days, and which remains in evidence today as the city’s economy shifts from manufacturing to finance, medicine and technology.
